PubSubHubBub (PuSH) is an open protocol created by Google which pings any new content you create to various hubs around the internet, and as a result it increases the speed at which your content gets indexed and ranked by the search engines.
On March 3rd, 2010 wordpress.com turned on PuSH support for the more than 10.5 million blogs hosted on WordPress.com. There’s nothing to configure for wordpress.com hosted blogs, as it works behind the scenes. However, for self hosted blogs which are running on the wordpress platform it needs to be done with the help of PubSubHubbub WordPress plugin
